CCNA — Cisco Certified Network Associate @ Cisco

    [in progress]

    #networking #routing #switching #ip #security-fundamentals #automation

Foundational networking certification — IP services, routing, switching, network access, basic security, and intro to programmability.

    +-- 8 lines: expand

Working towards CCNA — Cisco’s foundational networking exam. Covers:

    • Network fundamentals — TCP/IP, subnetting, OSI / TCP/IP models
    • Network access — Ethernet, switching, VLANs, trunking
    • IP connectivity — routing concepts, static routes, OSPFv2
    • IP services — DHCP, NAT, NTP, SNMP, syslog, QoS
    • Security fundamentals — port security, ACLs, VPN concepts
    • Automation & programmability — REST APIs, JSON, intro to Ansible / Python
  • Expected 2026

PNPT — Practical Network Penetration Tester @ TCM Security

    [in progress]

    #pentest #active-directory #osint #ad-attacks #report-writing

Hands-on pentest certification covering external + internal network assessments, Active Directory attacks, and a full report write-up.

    +-- 10 lines: expand

Currently working through the Practical Network Penetration Tester (PNPT) cert from TCM Security. The cert is heavy on real-world ops rather than multiple-choice trivia:

    • External reconnaissance / OSINT against the target org
    • Network pentesting: enumeration, vulnerability assessment, exploitation
    • Active Directory attacks (the bulk of it — Kerberoasting, AS-REP roast, NTLM relay, ACL abuse, BloodHound, etc.)
    • Linux + Windows privilege escalation
    • Post-exploitation + lateral movement
    • A full professional report delivered to the (fictional) client at the end

The exam is a 5-day pentest of an unfamiliar environment, followed by 2 days to write the report. Pass/fail is judged on whether you’d actually deliver value as a junior pentester.

NCSC-Certified MSc (Security Management) @ National Cyber Security Centre

    [issued]

    #risk-management #iso-27001 #compliance #gdpr #threat-modeling #security-frameworks

UCL's MSc Information Security carries NCSC certification — the programme content meets the UK government's standard for cyber-security education.

    +-- 8 lines: expand

My MSc Information Security at UCL is one of a small set of UK degrees officially certified by the National Cyber Security Centre. Beyond the technical material covered in the academic record, the certification specifically attests to coverage of security-management competencies:

    • Risk assessment & management — quantitative and qualitative frameworks
    • ISO 27001 / compliance management
    • Security auditing and incident response
    • Threat modeling (STRIDE, attack trees)
    • Security frameworks — NIST CSF, CIS Controls
    • GDPR and the regulatory landscape around handling personal data
